Cleaning Vinegar- A Magickal Recipe to Cleanse and Protect

Magickal Vinegar

This is a simple recipe and if you don’t have the herbs growing in your own yard, I bet you know someone who does! The fresh rosemary should be easy enough to get your hands on, and if you have trouble finding the lavender buds, they’re on amazon and eBay in various weights at reasonable prices.  Your local health foods store may also carry them.  In a pinch, use lavender essential oil, instead.

  • White Vinegar
  • 1 part Lavender buds (or Lavender essential oil)
  • 2 parts Rosemary
  • 2 parts Orange Peel

Okay, I admit I can’t give you measurements on this one.  I make it by the gallon, so my recipe is huge, and you wouldn’t use that much of it in a year. That said, if you replace all your usual cleaning products with this vinegar cleaner, you might go through it pretty fast. I use it for floors, appliances, windows and more at a ratio of 1-4 ounces of vinegar to a gallon of water depending on what I’m cleaning.  For magickal cleansing, 1 ounce to a gallon is a good ratio.

I can’t find a good pic of the orange peel, but here’s the gallon jar filled with herbs and covered with vinegar just after pouring

Sit the jar in a dark cupboard or pantry and shake it every once in awhile if you think of it, over the course of 6 weeks. Some witches like to sit their jar in the sun, like making sun tea, to hurry the process, but I’m happy to wait while my magick brews.

Just so you know, you won’t get this gorgeous magenta color if you skip the lavender buds for essential oils. It’s not necessary to the magick, but it sure is beautiful, isn’t it? Strain your vinegar through doubled cheesecloth when it’s ready.  I continue to keep mine in the bottom of the pantry where it’s mostly dark, to preserve the pretty color, but that’s just me. Mix as needed for magickal and physical clean/cleansing and protection.

It’s a fairly simple recipe, even so, if you prefer your Magickal Cleaning Vinegar witchcrafted by me, get yours here.
